Our Philosophy
At Orchard Heights, social connection is at the heart of everything we do. On any given morning, you might find residents tending the raised garden beds, gathering in the Lilac Lounge for a trivia challenge, or heading out for an ice cream run to Andersons. By afternoon, Paint with Linda is underway in the Recreation Room. By evening, there’s live music in the building and Bingo is calling numbers.
Our activity calendar fills our named lounges, activity rooms, front porch, and outdoor patios across our Orchard Park campus: the Recreation Rooms, Lilac Lounge, Chestnut Lounge, Willow Lounge, Veterans Lounge, and multiple patio spaces.
That means whether your loved one wants a quiet afternoon reading in the Willow Lounge, or a front row seat for the Crescendo Barbershop Quartet, the choice is always theirs. We encourage participation in everything as there is an activity for everyone’s interests.
Activity Highlights
Our 24/7 activities schedule is so robust that in addition to our community rooms that have a constant flow of scheduled events, we also have activities throughout the building, like on the patios, in the coffee shop, in the lounges, and off campus through weekly outings. This creates an energetic and active environment where everyone feels stimulated, connected, and engaged.
From Cardio Drumming and Zumba to Noodlecise, Arthritis Exercise, and our Walking with Dr. Raj program, residents have multiple fitness tracks to choose from every single week that is designed for every ability level and energy level.
We regularly welcome live performers to our community, from solo musicians like Bob White and Lyle Stang to ensembles like the Crescendo Barbershop Quartet and alto sax with piano accompaniment. Live entertainment is a recurring part of the weekly calendar.
Paint with Linda, flower arranging, meditational coloring, drawing classes, and seasonal craft events give residents dedicated time to create, explore, and express, whether they’re lifelong artists or picking up a brush for the first time.
We honor every faith tradition. Weekly services include Catholic Communion, the Rosary, online Mass, Bible Study, and visits from area congregations including Armor Bible Presbyterian and Wesleyan Church. Residents choose what fits their beliefs.
Residents regularly venture out into Orchard Park and the greater Buffalo area — ice cream runs to Andersons, lunch at local restaurants, shopping trips to Tops, and visits to area churches and schools — staying connected to the community they call home.
Clubs at Orchard Heights are resident-designed and resident-driven. The Knit & Crochet Club, Tinkerer’s Club, Sunshine Committee, Reading Circle, and Cat Lovers Tea all examples of what our residents actually want to do.
Enjoy our classic on-site ice cream parlor as more than just a cart, it’s a full parlor and the perfect spot to share a sweet treat with family and fellow residents.
From the Strawberry Social and Welcome Summer Party to weekly games, Happy Hour with Marlene, and Men’s Beer & Pizza night, there is always something social on the calendar to look forward to.
What’s Happening This Month
Our activity calendars are updated every month and reflect the full range of what’s happening across our community — from daily fitness classes and live entertainment to seasonal celebrations and resident-led clubs. And for night owls and early risers alike, our Night Owl Calendar is available with board games, card games, movies, puzzles, poetry.
We encourage families to look them over before visits, as there’s always something worth joining in on. Our current calendars are available to download below.

We’re so proud to celebrate our resident, 97-year-old Carmen Ardito, whose incredible craftsmanship has become a permanent part of the Erie County Fair’s history!Carmen Ardito created a 10ft by 6ft, 142-pound American flag made entirely from beads and fishing wire. And yes, it’s recognized as the world’s largest beaded American flag!👏As an immigrant, she created the flag as a symbol of gratitude for the country she calls home. It has now been permanently dedicated to the historical building at the Erie County Fairgrounds, where visitors can learn about its story for years to come.❤️🤍💙 “This Flag is a symbol of gratitude to my adoptive country for giving me and my family the freedom and opportunities that make the United States the greatest country in the world.”We couldn’t be prouder to have Carmen as part of our community. 🇺🇸Read more here: www.wivb.com/news/erie-county-fair/erie-county-fair-showcases-hand-crafted-american-flag/#WorldRecord #immigrantstory #97yearsyoung #craftsmanship #AmericanHistory … See MoreSee Less
